Brynn Tetreault (They/Them)

Policy and Education Specialist

Brynn (they/them) is a genderfluid, pansexual, and queer member of our Education and Advocacy Team working as a Policy and Education Specialist. In this role, they work with governing bodies for Albertan pharmacists to create practice guidelines and training modules to guide pharmacists working with trans and queer adults and youth.

“Since many members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community can be hesitant to interact with the health care community because of negative past experiences, either personal or second-hand, it’s my hope that the community knowing that this work is going on at the governing-body level will help them to be more at-ease with using these services”

Prior to the QTHC, Brynn worked for 6 years in an intersectional feminist research program at the University of Alberta. They also have experience working as a public health nurse and worked as a bouncer at Buddy’s. Additionally, Brynn’s personal experiences inform their work with our organization:

“I come from a family that’s deeply affected both by intergenerational trauma and substance abuse issues, so trauma-informed care is something that guides my practice, and it is also personally important to me. I’ve lived through being a trans person questioning both their gender and sexual identities, too, and navigated the health care system through those times so I understand many of the barriers and frustrations that members of our community go through daily.”

Brynn is especially passionate about access to sexual health services regardless of gender presentation, including pap smears, STI testing, and pregnancy prevention or termination methods. When they’re not working, Brynn loves playing with their cat, participating in tabletop roleplay games like Dungeons and Dragons or Monster of the Week, and running new prints on their 3D printer.
