REGISTRATION FOR INVESTIGAYTORS IS OPEN!
ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT 2S/LGBTQIA+ RESEARCH? JOIN INVESTIGAYTORS
Investigaytors is seeking 2S/LGBTQIA+ folks for its upcoming cohort, beginning September 2025 and running until April 2026!
Investigaytors is a data-driven journey into community-based research, enabling you to answer burning questions, and become actively involved in local research! This programming is a joint effort undertaken by the Queer & Trans Health Collective and NorQuest College. 2S/LGBTQIA+ community members attend weekly workshops where they learn about the principles of community-based research and engage with a variety of related topics including anti-oppressive research approaches and arts-based methods. Additionally, participants will work directly with representatives from a local community organization to co-create and co-conduct an applied research project that both serves our community while also meeting the research needs of a local 2S/LGBTQIA+ service provider.
Investigaytors is for folks without any previous research experience who wish to gain tangible skills, as well as those who already have research experience but want an opportunity to contribute to projects that will benefit 2S/LGBTQIA+ people in their community.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Investigaytors will begin with a weekend kick-off taking place on Saturday September 6th (from 10:00am to 4:00 pm). This will be an opportunity to learn about the program and get to know other 2S/LGBTQIA+ people in your community.
After this orientation, Investigaytors participants will meet for two hours each week on Tuesday evenings (from 6:30pm to 8:30pm) to learn all about community-based research. These weekly workshops will begin on September 9th and end on April 28th (with a holiday break).
The kick-off event and the weekly meetings will be held in-person in downtown Edmonton at NorQuest College.
The Investigaytors program will involve hands-on research experience. Participants will contribute to a national study on 2S/LGBTQIA+ health with the Community-Based Research Centre as well as an original applied research project with the Pride Centre of Edmonton.
