kayla halliday (she/her)
peer outreach worker
Kayla is a biracial and bisexual Black woman working as one of our Peer Outreach Workers. In this role, she is one of the first points of contact for community members who reach out to the QTHC. She is a registered social worker and provides peer support, harm reduction supply delivery, and referrals to other programs and services.
Kayla is passionate about harm reduction and about issues relating to bodily autonomy. She is the co-founder of People for Reproductive Freedom and Choice, an activist organization that holds protests and supports marginalized communities. Kayla says that all of her work is informed by her personal experiences: “My lived experiences of substance use, and as a racialized woman impact my perspectives and outlook. My work is rooted in a person-first, harm reduction, and strength-based approach.”
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with her dogs, family, and friends. She is currently learning Spanish and enjoys taking walks in nature.
You might reach out to Kayla with questions about the Peer N Peer program or to access the program’s supports.
