HIRING: Research Assistant, National 2S/LGBTQIA+ Substance Use Study

The Queer & Trans Health Collective (QTHC) seeks a remote, part-time Research Assistant for the National 2S/LGBTQIA+ Substance Use Study (NSUS). The NSUS is a mixed-methods study examining the current trends in the use of non-legalized substances within the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community and community needs and desires for harm reduction supports and services. The study aims to provide information for community-serving organizations, healthcare providers, and policy makers. QTHC is run by and for the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community and strives to employ anti-oppressive community-based research approaches. 

Regular responsibilities include:

  • Attend Community Advisory Team meetings and Research Team meetings

  • Assist with focus group guide development

  • Assist with running focus groups

  • Assist with qualitative data analysis

  • Support with writing community-facing knowledge translation

    • National action plan

    • Regional summary sheets

    • Social media campaign

  • Co-present at Summit conference and National Webinar

  • Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Research and Evaluation Manager

Priority will be given to a candidate who has lived or living experience with substance use and is a member of the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community. While former research training or experience is an asset, it is not a requirement as training will be provided. The position runs from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2026 and we welcome candidates from across Canada. QTHC is offering 10 hours per week at $30/hour.
