Hiring: Temporary Full-Time Evaluator, QTHC Harm Reduction Programs (Contract until mid or end of April with Possibility of Extension)

About Us:

The Queer & Trans Health Collective (QTHC) is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, with programs and services that are made by and for community. This position would be working with our innovative harm reduction programs, including Spectrum Drug Testing, Peer N Peer Program, and Bloom Mental Health. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Evaluator to join our team on a temporary full-time basis to support our mission by enhancing our program effectiveness through comprehensive evaluation and reporting.

Job Description 

The Evaluator will be responsible for assisting the QTHC staff team in grant reporting and sharing of evaluation findings. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Compiling data from our harm reduction programs (Peer N Peer, Spectrum and Bloom) to develop final reports for large scale grants. 

  • Conducting interviews with our community partners and members who access our programming. 

  • Working with a Graphic Designer and Harm Reduction Manager to develop Knowledge Translation Materials for our community.  

  • Attending relevant internal and community advisory team meetings; and,

  • Additional duties as deemed necessary by the QTHC staff team.

The Evaluator will be responsible for conducting program evaluation for QTHC’s harm reduction programs. Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluation of the Bloom program, including:

    • Development and compiling of participant surveys;

  • Evaluation of the overall Peer N Peer program, including:

    • Interviews with relevant stakeholders;

    • Interviews with program participants;

    • Interviews with Community Advisory Team participants

  • Evaluation of the Spectrum Drug Testing Program, including; 

    • Compiling drug testing results to reports used to inform community;

    • Assisting in developing a framework for data collection and knowledge translation for the community. 

Additionally, the Evaluator will be responsible for: 

  • Regularly reporting to the Research and Evaluation Manager and the Harm Reduction Manager;

  • Attending research team meetings; and,

  • Additional duties as deemed necessary by the QTHC staff team.

The position can be done remotely or hybrid, and is open to anyone legally entitled to work in Canada. The position is for 40 hours/week, with some degree of flexibility around when those hours are worked. 

Required Experience and Competencies:

Experience:

  • Partial or full completion of a Master’s degree or equivalent work experience in public health, evaluation, social sciences, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in conducting program evaluations, and developing comprehensive reports.

  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods from a community based perspective. 

  • Prior experience working with 2S/LGBTQ+ communities and harm reduction programs is highly desirable.

Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication and interview skills to engage with community partners and members effectively.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, including graphic designers, researchers, and program managers.

  • Knowledge of knowledge translation principles and experience in developing materials for community education.

  • Proficiency in data analysis software and tools relevant to evaluation work.

Compensation:

The payment will be commensurate with experience. Base rate is $30/hr. Candidates with extensive relevant experience and advanced skills may negotiate a higher rate. Contract will be for 1.5 months (or until the end of April) starting immediately, with possibility of extension.
